Two weeks after Run the Bridge, the first Rocky Run 5k/10k was happening in Philadelphia.  This was my first race with my TIUphilly girls.   I was super stoked for all of us to race together.  One of the girls made shirts for our whole group and of course we had to rock them on race day.  My boyfriend loved that I had other friends racing since now I didn't have to drag him along anymore. The race started at the Art Museum and where we all agreed to meet up before the race.  Because ya know, ya gotta take a starting line #selfie! It was freezing!!  All 7,000 runners, both 5k and 10k, all gathered at the Art Museum steps for the inaugural race. The Rocky theme was on repeat throughout the entire race.  SO many people dressed up as Rocky, it was hilarious.  I don't think I could run in a full costume even if I won the contest.  You could feel the anticipation and excitement.  This city was hyped! The girls who were running the 5k parted ways to head to the starting line.  The 10k girls cheered them on at the starting line.  I never get to be a spectator so this was fun!  Off the guns went for the 5k runners in waves about 2 minutes apart.  Our girls started off strong.Shortly after, it was our turn to get in our corrals.  It was a flat course, going through Martin Luther King Drive which I was starting to become familiar with.  I loved the turn around heading back and looking for the girls to cheer them along.  I felt great along the course and it was nice to have a friend that runs the same pace.  She gave me that extra push I needed.  We finished back at the Art Museum in no time.I finished in 52:53, slower then my past 10k's but still a successful race with my TIUphilly ladies.  The good thing was that I didn't have any pain and that's a win in itself. After the race, the girls and I went to brunch at Fare on Fairmount Ave.  I have never been there before and the menu looked awesome. We all had some well deserved post-race treats.  I got the Eggs Benedict and it was out of this world.  And mimosas!  Now, if only I could re-create this at home! All in all, I had a fabulous 2014 with new PRs and made new running friends.  Can't wait to see what is in store next?  See you next race season!Have you ever raced in a costume?  Send pictures!
