Try It Tuesday | Favorite Studios on ClassPass

I love running and I appreciate the importance of cross training.  I discovered ClassPass when it became available in Philadelphia about 3 years ago.  This was an awesome concept to have countless studios to practice at for one membership package.  I was able to attend each studio 3 times per cycle and try out something new.  My group of friends and I jumped on this right away and this allowed us to get together practically every Saturday morning for a sweat sesh.

The current membership package options are: 3 classes for $35, 5 classes for $55, and 10 classes for $95.  This is not a bad deal when some studios are $30 for a drop in alone.  Another plus is that you can use it in other cities with a quick switch and you’re good to sweat.  Also, you can add more classes if you run out or put your account on hold.  They recently added a new feature that you can stream workouts if you are unable to attend your favorite studios.

Don’t forget to check out my studio tips before heading out to the studio.

Here are some of my favorite studios that are on ClassPass in Philadelphia.

Flywheel Center City:

This was my first experience with indoor cycling just a little over 3 years ago and I’ve been addicted ever sense.  I was going here every week for a 60-minute Flybeats class while training for the Philly Marathon.

Flywheel has their own specific bike with their own clip-in cycling shoes (provided) and does have SPD clip-in pedals as well.  The classes include an arm workout with 2 and 4 pound weights near the of class (there is usually 3 songs left) and are either 45-minute or 60-minutes.  Their Flybeats classes do not include the arm workout but arms are worked into the class in other ways (think pushups) and the whole ride is focused on riding on the beat.  There is a tech pack that says all of your stats such as Torq (resistance), RPMs, and leader board standing.

Every instructor is amazing and they always have fun theme rides!

Body Cycle Studio:

Again, being a cardio junkie, I have to hit up every indoor cycling studio in town. Body Cycle uses Keiser bikes that have cages (for sneakers) or you can wear clip-in shoes.  The room is set up with these cool round mirrors so you can check your form and there isn’t a bad seat in the house.  The instructors always deliver an effective class with fun playlists.  I love their Explicit Rides that play the best rap music!

Grace and Glory Yoga:

I was dying to try Grace and Glory for the longest time, but every class was always filled.  After my first class, it was worth the wait.  The Fishtown studio is super cute and every instructor is welcoming.  Also, there are studios in South Jersey.  GGY has several class options available ranging from all levels 45 minute to 75 minute and even a FIIT class that combines yoga with HIIT (really fun class and highly recommend).  This is heated to 90 degrees Baptiste power yoga so get ready to sweat!

Sculpt Fitness Studio:

When I first heard about a megaformer studio opening in the city, I was instantly intrigued.  Fortuately, my friend and I were able to hold our first event there in May and brought several girls to the studio to try out the workout.  It’s such a killer workout and I couldn’t wait to get back on the megaformer.  The workout digs into those tiny muscles with slow and controlled movements to sculpt your body in the best way possible.  You definitely will be sore the following day!  Don’t wait too long to check out SFS, their classes fill up quickly so get on it ASAP!

There’s also barre and boxing and rowing, oh my! ClassPass seriously has so many options and more are always being added.  The beauty in this style is if you don’t find the perfect match, you can try numerous studios/instructors until you do without losing much.

Studio and group fitness classes really work for me.  I’m not the one-on-one type of girl (unless its running).  I like the community that each studio creates and the experience of individualized workouts.  If it wasn’t for these group classes, I wouldn’t have become an instructor myself. Or be thinking about getting another certification 😉

Several cities have ClassPass and definitely worth checking out!  If you’re located in Philly, hit a girl up!  Wanna join me?
